This emblem which has appeared in past versions of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh logo, was designed as a monogram by J.S. Bach himself. It is formed from his three initials engraved in a calligraphic style and overlaid with their mirror image. Hoping he would be appointed to the post of Master of Music to the Elector of Saxony, Bach topped the image with a crown.
